Hey, What’s a Microfactory?

Before talking about microfactories, it’s a good idea to discuss how regular manufacturers tend to do things. We'll call these traditional factories “macrofactories.”

How does the macrofactory model work? Well, there are a few key components that have made them so profitable.

First is centralization. You get a single big factory that ships out everything it makes worldwide. This simplifies things, but it also means that there’s tons of energy used and pollution created in transportation.

The second is scale. Macrofactories are all about making as much stuff as possible at the most enormous scale. When you get to numbers this big, waste is to be expected - it just doesn’t register on the profit sheets and so is often ignored. A lot of the waste comes from the fact that every part of the process is done in a separate area. This leaves room for errors to crop up or for goods to even get lost as they move around a gigantic factory complex.

Microfactories are just plain better for the entire world. Our microfactory creates nearly 80% less waste than it would if we made our fantastic plus size rave clothing items the traditional way. It also means that we can make all of our plus-size rave outfits very durable and long lasting. Without having to transport our products long distances, we significantly cut down on our environmental impact.

But that’s not all. Our microfactory heavily uses recycled material to make our festival wear. No matter which pair of booty shorts or crop tops you get from us, you can be guaranteed that we made it as low impact as possible. But that’s not where the recycling ends! The manufacturing processes naturally lead to a lot of scraps. Other companies might throw these out, but we turn them into accessories like scrunchies, as well as some of our most scandalously skimpy pieces.
